Armed merchant ship, "L'Orthezien" of Bordeaux, built in 1793 and owned by J. and J.D. Fourcade who used it for making voyages to Haiti, Martinique, New Orleans, Isle Maurice, Guadeloupe, Isle of Bourbon, India, and Havana, for coffee, sugar, rum, syrup, oil of palm, and other colonial products. The papers include receipts for custom duties, inspector's reports, bills of lading, articles of agreement between captain and crew for a voyage to New Orleans in 1817, permits for loading and discharging cargoes, certificates for carrying mail, list of medicines furnished by the owners, certificates of inspection by sanitary officers, discharges of seamen from a hospital in Martinique, inventory of equipment on ship in 1823, and a bill of lading for sugar, dated Havana, September 1, 1824.
